"Everything Happened in 10 Minutes": This One-Year-Old Baby Suffocates After Swallowing His Mother's Fake Nail

A tragic domestic accident occurred in just a few minutes. In Argentina, a one-year-old baby died from asphyxiation after swallowing a fake nail belonging to his mother. This tragedy has torn the family apart and alerted internet users.

With a one-year-old baby who explores everything, grabs, puts objects in his mouth, and never stays still, it only takes a few seconds of inattention for the worst to happen. In a family home in Argentina, during a daily routine as mundane as changing a diaper, a tragic scene unfolded at lightning speed. The child reportedly grabbed and swallowed a fake acrylic nail belonging to his mother. A small, lightweight cosmetic item, but potentially dangerous.

This drama, which occurred on Saturday, March 21, and was reported by the media Todo Noticias and later relayed in France by Le Parisien, has deeply shaken internet users. In just a few minutes, the ordinary situation of a family turned into horror and is now tearing apart their bonds. Behind this news story lies a chilling reality: in the everyday environment, certain objects that one would not suspect can become deadly for little ones.

That day, nothing foreshadowed such an accident, let alone the death of the baby named Dante Valentín Bermudes Rumi. The mother, Aylin Saucedo, a nail technician, was simply changing her son's diaper when the unthinkable happened. The baby grabbed a piece of acrylic nail and swallowed it whole.

The scene unfolded in seconds. Seeing her child struggling to breathe, the mother immediately tried to intervene by putting her fingers down the little one's throat. But the situation slipped away from her. "We were at home, and I realized that he was no longer breathing," she recounts. Panic set in, actions rushed, but nothing worked to relieve the child. "I ran outside to ask my neighbor for help, but she couldn't do anything. My aunt came up next, and she couldn't either. So I rushed to the hospital," she adds.

The baby's life flashed before his mother's eyes. "Everything happened in ten minutes," explains the young woman. Upon arrival at the hospital, it was already too late. Despite resuscitation attempts, the child was declared dead. The autopsy later confirmed asphyxiation caused by airway obstruction.

Baby's Death: The Origin of Heavy Family Tensions

But the family's story does not end with this tragedy. At the hospital, the situation quickly escalated. The child's father, in shock, reacted violently. According to the mother's testimony, he attacked several family members, including the baby's stepfather. "At one point, the father arrived at the hospital, attacked my partner, and then attacked me," she recounts. Very quickly, the tragedy gave way to an open conflict among relatives. The father accuses the mother of being responsible for their son's death and takes it upon himself to organize the funeral.

The mother denounces a deliberate exclusion from the vigil and burial of her child, which deeply pains her. She recounts: "They didn't want to give me any information. They didn't want to tell me when the wake would be or where he would be buried. The father paid for the funeral services to prevent me from attending." She explains that she had to call the police to obtain information about her deceased baby's funeral.

Deprived of a significant part of the funeral, Aylin Saucedo was still able to say goodbye to her child, but under very limited conditions, as revealed by the media. She confides: "I was able to see my son for 45 minutes because that was his father's wish. He organized the wake and buried him afterward". A final moment cut short, far from what she hoped for to say goodbye to her baby.

Everyday Objects: Real Dangers for Babies

According to the ongoing investigation, no signs of violence were found on the child's body. The forensic report confirms an accidental cause: asphyxiation related to an object lodged in the throat. Authorities are now seeking to reconstruct the facts to determine whether this was a pure domestic accident or if any responsibilities can be engaged.

But this tragedy also highlights the risks associated with small objects in the environment of little ones. Fake nails, coins, caps, toys... These are elements that may seem innocuous to an adult but pose a vital danger to a child. In just a few minutes, everything can change. This tragic news story once again emphasizes the constant vigilance of parents, which must be unwavering in the face of everyday small objects.
